'Swim Cam' trials resounding success!
Source: Comissioning Editor

Outdoors TV has been busy testing a kayak mounted mini-cam to film open water swimming, either for triathlon coverage or for forthcoming open water swim programming.

The tests were split into two sessions - one at Poole Harbour & one on the Istrian coast in Northern Croatia, an area renowned for its clear waters.

The Poole Harbour session mainly concentrated on the kayak mounting system which used a tubular frame to hold a 'bullet cam' micro camera which could be repositioned relatively easily to give a variety of different surface or submerged shots.

The Croatian test mainly focussed on a hand held pole-rig, again with a micro camera which would offer the paddler more flexible set up for fast moving situations, where adaptability is more important than rock solid stability.

You can see the results of the tests on our Facebook page.

Both tests went well & will go into use within productions in 2010.
