Six months in - channel update
Source: Comissioning Editor

Outdoors TV has been operating for six months now, having gone live on May 1st 2009. During this period, the site has undergone a major redesign, enabling better playout functionality & the length of time that programmes remain available has been extended.

Outdoors TV's aim is to produce engaging, relevant programmes for outdoors enthusiasts, so the major focus is always on programming. To this end, much of the work during this first six months has been filming, with the turn around of completed programmes going onto the site slowing down temporarily. While this does mean that the channel's physical output has been minimal during this period, the quantity & quality of programmes coming through for 2010 is significant.

It was important to put in place the new website early on in the channel's launch year, to help move it forward for the future & with the emphasis on programme making being dominant during this time, it is hoped that viewers will understand the channel's aims & priorities.

Outdoors TV's first major documentary - 'Trading Up' is now showing in its entirety, giving around two hours of viewing on the subject of training for your first triathlon. In early 2010, the channel's second triathlon programme airs with coverage of the Forestman iron distance triathlon & shortly afterwards, the documentary about the Devizes to Westminster will go live.

Other programmes that are already filmed & awaiting edit before going live in 2010 are: Run Free - a trail running show, Me & the Mountain - about solo mountain walking & 'Be Here Now' - a profile of Istra on the Croatian coast.

A new documentary following the Devizes Canoe Club taking part in their first Devizes to Westminster race, an in depth look at rivers access & a pilot mountain craft programme will be among a number of new shows being produced.
