The 2010 Devizes to Westminster Canoe Marathon was a completely different challenge to the 2009 race when the sun shone & the conditions were positively balmy compared to normal. The 2010 race was much more 'on message' as far as the conditions were concerned, re-affirming the race's status as one of the world's toughers endurance races. Rain, cold & a flooded fast flowing Thames created very testing conditons & the waters at Westminster could only be described as unwelcoming! Many crews came home with the rear man acting as a human outrigger, while the front paddler tickled the water until they crossed the line. In the senior doubles category, Richard Hendron & James King, the crew who finished in second place behind Dan Seaford & Owen Peake in the 2009 race, came home victorious this year in a time of 16:20:24. The first mixed crew home was James Hinves & Martine HInves Huisman of Southampton Canoe Club in a time of 19:57:44.
