Devizes canoe club launched

Devizes - the start point for the Devizes to Westminster Canoe Marathon finally has its own canoe club! You'd think that as host to one of the world's great endurance races, the whole area would be awash with marathon paddlers but no.

Spring 2009 saw a fledgeling club formed & following some local publicity, the club now has over 70 members, in just a few months. Needless to say, taking part in DW 2010 is a firm target for many of the crews who have already started training for the great event.

The club has hit the ground running & with training sessions already in the bag from Paul Ralph & his team at Marsport & National Development Coach - John Handyside, they couldn't have asked for a better start.

Outdoors TV is following the club's evolution & will be filming at various strategic points through their preparation, as well as tracking the progress of three crews in the race itself for a documentary to be shown in the summer of that year.

We will also be setting up a Facebook page especially for the programme, allowing all the teams to post updates on their training progress & show pictures & videos of their experiences.
